01 / The shop
A small shop with a long memory.
Paper Lantern began in 2016 as two shelves on the verandah of a 1970s Indiranagar bungalow. Today the whole house is books: new fiction in the front room, Indian-language writing and translations in the hall, poetry up the stairs, and a children's corner with floor cushions and a very patient reading lamp.
Every book here was chosen by someone who read it. Ask us for a recommendation and you will get a person, not an algorithm. If we don't have what you want, we will order it in; most books arrive in four to six days.
- 9,000+Titles on the shelves
- 9Languages we stock
- 4–6Days for special orders
