The rain shop

Umbrellas for the local train, the sea face and the school gate. Raincoats for the scooter ride home.

[02]

Built for the sea-face gust.

Point at a part to see it. Then send a Marine Drive gust: the canopy flips, the fibreglass bends, and it springs back.

From a repair stall at Dadar TT.

Monsoon Umbrellas began in 1998 as a folding table outside Dadar station, where Iqbal fixed umbrellas the trains had chewed up. After twenty monsoons of seeing what breaks, we started making umbrellas that don't: fibreglass ribs, a stronger runner, a canopy stitched at every rib. We still repair every one of our umbrellas for free for one monsoon, at the same corner.
