The jeans

Four fits, three washes, waist 26 to 40. Pick a fit, then a wash: the pairs re-dye themselves to match.

Wash

[02]

Same pair, two washes.

Drag the seam to compare. Every wash starts as the same raw cloth; only the time with pumice stones changes.

Raw
Never washed. Deep, stiff, a little shiny. It moulds to you and fades where you move. Wash it separately for the first few times.
Mid
45 minutes with pumice. Soft from day one, with gentle whiskers at the hips and paler thighs.
Light
90 minutes with pumice and a sun-dry on the roof. Summer blue, worn-in knees, shining rivets.

Three questions, one fit.

1 / 3Who are they for?

[04]

From cotton to your cupboard.

  1. 01Cotton

Long-staple Gujarat cotton, ginned in Kadi, spun into a slub yarn with small, honest knots.

  2. 02Rope dye

Twelve dips in indigo. The dye stays on the outside of the yarn and the core stays white. That is why denim fades.

  3. 03Twill

Woven 3×1 right-hand twill, 11.5 oz, on looms in Narol. Look close and you can see the diagonal.

  4. 04Cut, sew, wash

28 tailors cut and sew every pair in Ellisbridge, then the washers give it time with pumice.
