Bridal henna · Banjara Hills, Hyderabad

Every line drawn by hand, for the hands you’ll hold for life.

Zoya draws bridal henna in natural, home-mixed henna. Arabic trails, dense Hyderabadi bridal work and quiet minimal designs, at your home or at the studio.

01Mandala palmScroll to draw

A full mandala in the centre of the palm: petals, dots and scallops, built ring by ring.

An open palm. As you scroll, henna is drawn on it: a mandala on the palm, caps on each fingertip, paisleys, and a lattice cuff on the wrist.

Henna from Sojat leaves, mixed at home every week.

Zoya learnt henna from her aunt in the lanes behind Charminar, and has drawn brides since 2016. Her cones are rolled by hand each morning from Rajasthani henna powder, lemon juice, sugar and a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Nothing else, and never “black henna”.

  • Natural only. No PPD, no chemical darkeners.
  • Patch test on request, free, a week before.
  • Home visits anywhere in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The colour comes later.

Henna starts bright orange and darkens for two days. Slide to see how it changes, and what to do at each stage.

Bright orange

This is normal. Scrape the dry paste off with a blunt butter knife; do not wash it off.

  1. Keep the paste on for 6 to 8 hours, overnight if you can.
  2. Seal it with the lemon-sugar mix Zoya leaves you, dabbed on with cotton.
  3. No water for 12 hours after the paste comes off. Scrape, don’t wash.
  4. Warmth helps. Rub a little coconut or mustard oil on, and keep your hands warm.
  5. Skip waxing and scrubs for a few days so the design lasts longer.
