Pampore, Kashmir Harvest of October 2026
Hand-picked Kashmiri saffron, dried over embers and sold honestly, by the gram.
The harvest
Each autumn, the high plateaus of Pampore turn violet almost overnight. The crocus flowers for barely three weeks. Before the sun is high, families walk the rows and pick every bloom by hand. At home, the three crimson stigmas are pulled from each flower, one by one, and dried slowly over low embers. Around 1,50,000 flowers go into a single kilogram. That is why we sell by the gram.
Two grades, both honest
Same flower, same field. The difference is how much of the thread we keep.
